Teen Center Director
Position: Teen Center Director
Classification: Part-time, 30 hours/week
Reports to: Program Director
Primary Function:
Under the supervision of the Program Director, the Teen Center Director is responsible for planning, promoting, coordinating, and implementing targeted teen programming that meets the needs and interests of our teen population. The Teen Center Director's responsibilities include program development, program deliverables, outreach, recruitment, and the development and maintenance of partnerships with families, stakeholders, schools, and community partners. This individual is passionate, energetic, and dedicated to providing a supportive and empowering environment where teens can thrive.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, develop, implement and evaluate teen-centered programs, services, and activities; making sure to continually stay up to date with and incorporate the interests and needs of the teen population.
- Provide leadership for the development of new and innovative programs, on or off-site.
- Lead equitable programming with an emphasis on Social Emotional Learning methods and promoting program participation.
- Supervise the overall operation of the Teen Center, focusing on building a sense of belonging as well as ensuring emotional and physical safety.
- Lead and facilitate fun, engaging, and intentional Friday Teen Nights at the Club.
- Play a lead role in teen recruitment and retention efforts, marketing Club and Teen Center activities throughout Alameda and conducting outreach at local schools.
- Provide proper record keeping, including activities and events conducted, breakdown of daily participation figures, notable achievements, and any incidents or concerns.
- Provide periodic reports, both internally and externally, to Club leadership and grant-funding agents as needed.
- Ensure quality improvement by monitoring and evaluating program achievement against target goals, recommending modifications that respond to member needs and interests, and participating in staff meetings. Establish and maintain outcome-based programs.
- Provide guidance, support, and mentorship to Club members.
- Demonstrate leadership to assure conduct, safety, and development of members; Recognize and respond quickly to any member incidents, such as arguing, fighting, or horseplay.
- Work effectively and collaboratively with staff, volunteers, parents, school officials, board members, donors, or other community members as needed.
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and manage 1-2 teen-centered staff.
- Participate in special programs or events as needed.
- Serve as a resource to leaders and staff, performing other duties as assigned.
- Ensure a positive, productive, and effective work environment.
Desired Skills & Experience:
- Experience using Microsoft Word, Outlook Mail, and Outlook Calendar.
- Experience working collaboratively with parents, school officials, and stakeholders.
- Experience with community outreach and engagement efforts.
- Understanding of neurodiversity and ability to adapt programming as needed.
- Knowledge of adolescent development, including social, emotional, and cognitive development.
- Represent the Club positively in the community.
- Should be able to lift 25pounds.
- Continue personal and professional growth by participating in trainings/classes.
REQUIRED Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Ability to successfully pass a DOJ fingerprint clearance and criminal background check.
- Experience working in youth development, preferably with teens, required.
- Ability to work independently and monitor own performance objectives.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team and be a team-player.
- Must have a valid California driver’s license.
