Club Kids Enjoyed the 4th of July

Wednesday, July 6th, 2011

From the decoration party on Sunday through the end of the parade, the kids at the Club had a wonderful time. They decorated the trailer and truck donated by Rogers Trucking and driven by Al DeWitt Jr. and all met on Monday to ride and wave to all their friends and bystanders. Our Road Runners group raced at the beginning and the Drum Corp preceded the float with their usual precision and enthusiasm.

This past Saturday, June 19th, Club Members and staff woke up extra early to participate in the City’s Annual Sand Castle & Sand Sculpture Contest at Crown Memorial Beach. This year’s design selection was a large sculpture of SpongeBob SquarePants and his best friend Patrick.  With our members working together diligently with shovels, garden tools, and buckets, we completed our sculpture before the end of the allotted time.

While on the journey back to the Teen Center, all the kids decided it would be fun to participate in next year’s event.  We capped off the contest with a pizza party for all the members who participated.
